Saoirse – Irish Freedom grew out of the split in the Republican Movement in 1986, which resulted in the continuing reformist majority, Sinn Féin, and the new minority, Republican Sinn Féin. One of the first priorities of Republican Sinn Féin was to produce a paper. In November 1986, the first issue of Republican Bulletin appeared, which was replaced in May 1987 by Saoirse – Irish Freedom. The complete archives are freely available, as are other earlier publications of the Irish Republican Movement.
