Description: The Institute for East and Southeast European Studies (IOS) is a result of the union between the Eastern European Institute and the Institute for South East European Studies on Jan. 1, 2012. The IOS investigates economic and historical developments in Eastern and Southeastern Europe, in particular the region of the former Soviet Union; research focuses in particular on comparative and transnational perspectives as well as interdisciplinary approaches. The IOS publishes journals, book series, working papers and background surveys, as well as organizing events and offering freely accessible electronic databases and research portals.
