The Rama IX Art Museum Foundation was set up in 1996 with the objective of establishing a permanent museum dedicated to Thai contemporary and modern art and to be named "The Rama IX Art Museum" in honor of H.M. The King Bhumipol Adulyadej.

A major art exhibition was undertaken by the Foundation in 1997 - the "Golden Jubilee Art Exhibition" to honor H.M. The King's Golden Jubilee and to raise funds for the musuem project.

Due to the ensuing economic and financial crisis over the past two years, fund raising efforts and support for such endeavor has diminished dramatically. It is unlikely that the Foundation will obtain sufficient funding from governmental and private sources to achieve its' objective in the near future.

Therefore it has been decided in early 1999 that the Foundation, with the limited resources still remaining, would in the meantime build the Rama IX Art Museum in cyberspace and dedicate this Website of Thai Contemporary and Modern Art to H.M. The King in celebration of his 72th birthday this December 5, 1999.

The Penang State Art Gallery is a comprehensive collection devoted to modern and contemporary art. The non-circulating collection documents painting, sculpture, drawings, prints, photography, architecture, design, performance, video, film, and emerging art forms from year 1965 to the present. The Penang State Art Gallery presents artworks revolving around ideas of identity, urbanization, globalisation and the environment, these works raise pertinent issues on urban living in the modern cityscape and prompt us to consider how the artists have translated their visions about these issues into works of art.

The Whitney was the first museum to take its exhibitions and programming beyond its walls by establishing corporate-funded branch facilities, and the first museum to undertake a program of collection-sharing (with the San Jose Museum of Art) in order to increase access to its renowned collection.

Designed by architect Renzo Piano and situated between the High Line and the Hudson River, the Whitney's new building vastly increases the Museum’s exhibition and programming space, providing the most expansive view ever of its unsurpassed collection of modern and contemporary American art.

Featuring over 1,700 artworks by more than 625 artists, the Collection Online presents a searchable database of selected artworks from the Guggenheim’s permanent collection of more than 7,000 artworks. The selection reflects the breadth, diversity, and tenor of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation’s extensive holdings from the late 19th century through the present day. The Collection Online is continually expanded to include a larger representation of the museum’s core holdings as well as recent acquisitions.

In addition to highlights from the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York, the Collection Online includes works from the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice, and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
